I use to work in a professional office. I wore business casual everyday and had spent years collecting a wardrobe that fit my needs. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was my closet of clothes.
After my husband and I had our first child, we decided that for our family, the best thing would be for me to become a Stay-at-home-Mom.
That decision was more of a shock to my closet than to me.
One day you go from wearing professional clothes everyday, then you go into maternity clothes, then……Here comes the yoga pants!
We all joke about yoga pants, how it is the standard uniform of a mom. They are super comfy, wearable, washable, and you can take on the world in them.
Well, after a few years of trying to find the right clothes that fit my body, my needs, and my sense of style, I felt like I had started to loose myself. Yoga pants were fine, but I was feeling so defeated. I didn’t know what to wear! You know what to wear for business casual, you know what to wear for work out clothes, but what do you wear when your job is Mom and you truly don’t know what may be in-store for the day?
Here is where I would like to say ‘Thank You Target and Wal-Mart for making comfortable, washable, wearable, stylish dresses for $20 and UNDER.’ I discovered my own personal mom style.
After walking past the dresses at Wal-Mart and Target for ages and seeing the $15 price on super cute dresses, I figured…”why not try it! What have I got to loose? Besides, it’s not like I don’t go to these store enough times picking up random things so it’s not out of my way if I get home, try it on and decide it’s not for me.”
Well, that opened up the door to re-energizing my dormant fashion yearnings!
I wear a dress with leggings almost everyday. I can tackle any job I want because I’m not super worried about ruining an expensive outfit. My leggings are just as comfortable as my yoga pants and I just feel so much more put together. The best thing is that I don’t feel like I have to constantly be changing clothes.
I don’t hesitate to go dig in the dirt with my son, I go ahead and lay in the grass with my daughter talking about the clouds. I don’t freak out when I get food, paint, or bodily functions on my outfit because I know it can be taken care of without worry. I can also climb to the tallest tower of any Play Place without the worry of my pants falling down…I did a rescue like that just last week!!! Lol!!! I still wear my yoga pants on occasion, but rejoice in the fact that I have other wearable options.
Thank you Target and Wal-Mart for helping me to gain back my fashion sense without the guilt of costing a lot<3
