CSI: Child Scene Investigators – The Mommy Files

Did you ever notice that once you are around children, you become a natural detective? A constant CSI: Child Scene Investigator.

“What is that smell? Is it my child?”
“Where did those crumbs come from? I haven’t given my children any snacks yet.”
And…the famous…

Below are two cases solved this weekend:

1. Case 1: The Wet Hand-Towel:

I came down from switching the laundry to discover the hand-towel wet and laying in the sink.

The sink is much too high for my son so my suspicions turned to my daughter. After examining the scene, I discover the small baggie of temporary tattoos.

My daughter was siting quietly listening to music and I didn’t see any apparent tattoos…that’s when the interrogation began:

Me-“Daughter, did you give yourself a tattoo this morning?”
Me-“Where did you give yourself a tattoo?”
Daughter-“On my belly of course! I thought the hand-towel would be best”

Case 2: Is Someone Bleeding?

I was doing the morning dishes and my children were quietly playing. I finished and went to see what they were playing. As I approached them I saw the red blood looking streak across a piece of paper on the floor.

After taking a deep breath knowing that my kids were fine…of course they were, they were only 10 feet away, I remembered that I had told my daughter earlier in the morning that she could paint her nails.

She, having listened to my instructions previously, had painted her nails on top of a piece of paper and had gotten some nail polish on the paper. Luckily she didn’t spill or make a mess. She even put away the nail polish. She had just forgotten to throw away the paper;-)

If you are around children, you are an elite member of the CSI: Child Scene Investigators. Perhaps your everyday investigations involve mysterious hand and fingerprints found around your home? Although sometimes these mysteries can be trying, know that you can overcome it. Know that someone else(probably thousands of people around the world) are investigating the same mystery. You are not alone. Someday you and your children will look back and laugh.

Remember…They Will Love Your Effort<3

Hi! My name is Dominique and I’m lucky enough to be the wife to my True Love and mother to a little girl and a little boy. I grew up in the Midwest but have loved living in NC, our new home.

I’m actually an Industrial Engineer by schooling, but am now a domestic engineer(Stay-at-home-Mom) and feel very blessed to have this job.

I have always loved the challenge in making the most of things…whether it’s figuring out that a filing cabinet , a $10 piece of countertop and a few scraps of wood can be turned into a desk, that a curtain sheer, some ribbon, and a square piece of fabric can be transformed into an Elsa-like dress, or how to provide an interesting lunch for my little girl who is in a peanut free classroom. I love to figure things out and to create.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts. I hope that my posts will inspire you to create. I hope that with my posts you will see that They Will Love Your Effort, whether things turn our perfect or not;-)
